office gong policy
Internal email regarding the new policy governing the two office gongs and when and how they are to be rung:
HI Guys- we have had a few GONG!!! Moments lately- all to the good if we are celebrating.
But we need to put a little structure around who celebrates and when to avoid creating unplanned disturbances.
The Gongs are rung to celebrate a project that comes in/under budget and on/before deadline. These are moments of success for the entire agency, and we want to celebrate them.
BUT, we want to make sure that the team is recognized and everyone knows what we are celebrating!
So, going forward, here is how the Ringing of the Gong will function.
Going forward: The PM will send an email to the office- with the job number and the Phrase GONG in the subject headline
They will let the office know that the team will be celebrating the on-time and on-budget project.
They will tell the office what the project was, and who the team was. The email will give a time during the day (in one hour, 4pm) that the gong is to be rung, so the office can have advance warning of the celebration.
Then, at the appropriate time, whoever of the team gets together, you can ring the Gong together.
This way, everyone can celebrate together!
thanks
My response to said email:
“…Then shalt thou gong three times, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt gong, and the number of the gonging shall be three. Four shalt thou not gong, neither gong thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out…”
